About Us
Land & Building Services (LBS) is the primary steward
for UBC facilities and infrastructure. In addition to providing all operations
and maintenance for UBC’s 278 core buildings, we also provide municipal
services—landscaping, waste management, and road maintenance—and
capital building and utility infrastructure planning for 405 hectares
of campus land. We’re also involved in the provision of community
services and we’re playing an active role in the creation of a vibrant
university town.
Our purpose within the TREK 2000 Vision is to support
the university’s mission of educating students and nurturing successful
research endeavors. Our mission is to provide professional, leading edge
stewardship and asset management for all of UBC’s lands and buildings.
We’re helping lead the way by setting the highest standard of service
in all aspects of our core functions and responsibilities.
We are an umbrella organization that comprises six operational
units (UBC Plant Operations, Campus & Community Planning, UBC Utilities,
UBC Campus Sustainability Office, the UBC Trek Program Centre and the
Office of the University Architect). Two administrative units, Finance
& IT Services and Human Resources & Administration provide streamlined
centralized support for the entire portfolio.
